Several High Wycombe residents have reacted to the news that the town is expected to get its fourth McDonald’s restaurant.

It is planned that the Golden Arches sign will tower over the Cressex area of Wycombe, which will be connected to an Aldi supermarket - both of which are due to open by May this year.

Signage for the two was erected in February, and job opportunities are currently available for those who are looking for work.

But some residents who live in the town are not too keen on another takeout joint in the area.

The Crest Road venue will join other McDonald’s outlets along the High Street, Holmers Farm Way and Dovecot Road in High Wycombe.

The Holmers Farm Way venue is currently situated in the town's Asda supermarket, which is a three-minute drive from the new location.

Taking to Facebook, Ross Anderson said: “No - our children should be protected from this sort of thing.”

Naomi Watson added: “No. We need The Range!”

Darren Heath said: “This country is turning into America.”

Peter Jago said: ‘No we don't’, whilst Muddasar Iqbal believes the arrival of the McDonald’s restaurant will cause ‘more litter.’

However, some are in favour of the fast-food restaurant coming to Cressex.

The arrival of McDonald’s in the area means residents don’t need to travel 10 minutes to the centre of High Wycombe to pick up their favourite meals and treats from the biggest takeout restaurant in the world.

Sandra Tilbury wrote on Facebook: “People are going to eat McDonald’s no matter what others say or think however it’s created lots more jobs for people.”

Ashlee Hogan said: “If it's closer to me, yes. Yes, we do!”

John McDonald added: “That whole location in Cressex serves a much wider footprint than Wycombe.”

Julian Walters shared: “Do people think that someone will put a McDonald's there without doing research?

“I'm sure they are aware of the population in the catchment area.”

Whilst no definitive date has been confirmed, it is expected that both the McDonald’s and the Aldi will open by the end of May this year.
