UNSUNG heroes across South Bucks are set to be rewarded for all their hard work as nominations open for a top community award.

This year’s South Bucks District Council Chairman’s Awards take place in March and recognise people who work hard in their communities and make a difference to the lives of others.

And SBDC chairman Santokh Chhokar is calling for residents to nominate those who do so much to help others but may not necessarily be recognised for their efforts.

He said: "A few minutes of your time is all it takes to help us, to be able to say thank you to those who have given so much in caring for others in need or giving to the community in some way.

"This is a real opportunity for their efforts to be recognised and I hope you will take the time to nominate those who make a real difference to people’s lives."

There are a number of categories for both young people and adults, with anyone able to nominate the community champions for free.

Nominees must volunteer within the South Bucks district and have not previously been a category winner.

They should work in a voluntary capacity, or carry out work which is considered over and above their normal paid employment duties.

Nominations will be considered by a panel of representatives from the area and awards will be given in each of the categories with an overall winner and two runners up.

Sponsored by GLL, winners in the Sports Activator category will also receive a year’s GLL membership for use at ‘Better’ facilities in both South Bucks and Chiltern.

Winners will receive an engraved glass trophy at the Chairman’s Awards evening on Wednesday, March 26 in the new clubhouse at the South Buckinghamshire Golf Course in Stoke Poges.
