PUPILS from seven schools took part in a muddy but well attended race on Tuesday at Speen playing fields.

Speen Church of England School hosted the Cross Country Event, where the weather stayed dry for the duration.

Pupils from Bledlow Ridge, St John's in Lacey Green, Naphill and Walters Ash, Monks Risborough, Princes Risborough Primary and Great Kimble all joined in.

Years one and two took part- with six girls and six boys from each year group running in separate girls and boys races.

Parent Governor Katherine Matthews said: "It was fantastic. The weather was dry and parents came along and supported their children.

"It was a bit like a mud bath but thankfully it remained dry for the course of the race."

The overall winner was Princes Risborough Primary School.

The event is organised by Philippa O'Donnell - the sports teacher from Princes Risborough Secondary School and supported by Young Sports Leaders.
