OVER 6000 sandbags have been delivered to locations throughout the area to help those worst affected by the floods, with the council arranging another delivery today.

Wycombe District Council has been stocking up on the bags after the initial stocks were used over the last few days, with another stockpile now being taken to various points in Marlow and Bourne End.

The pre-arranged drop off points are as follows:

  • Abbotsbrook, Bourne End - Lock Bridge Road
  • Bourne End - Riversdale • Hambleden
  • Little Marlow - Cold Moor Holme Lane
  • Little Marlow - Westhorpe Farm Lane
  • Marlow - Mill Road
  • Marlow - Pound Lane
  • Medmenham - Ferry Lane
  • Medmenham - Westfield Cottages

Marlow Town Council has been issued with a stock of ‘Aqua Sacs’ – ultra lightweight bags that soak up and store water in much the same way as a sandbag.

Volunteers, including Marlow Mayor Suzanne Brown, are helping get the flood defences to those who most need them.

Several WDC crew members gave up leave to help with the operation and volunteers continue to assist with filling sandbags.

Street cleaning crews are bieng diverted to prioritise work on the flooding.

Authorities are urging people to make arrangements with friends, relatives and neighbours who may be unable to pick them up.
