A 67-YEAR-old woman died after she fell during a holiday in Tenerife, an inquest heard.

Patricia Taylor, 67, from the Chalfonts arrived at the Spanish island on October 10 with her husband, Colin.

The inquest at Beaconsfield Coroner's Court today heard they were staying in a studio apartment and at 2am on October 12 Mr Taylor woke to find his wife lying on the floor next to the bed, after she called out.

He presumed she had fallen when she had got up to go to the toilet in the night.

She was lucid, and at first did not want him to call a doctor.

But paramedics were called and she went into hospital where she had surgery. Mrs Taylor went into intensive care but did not recover and later died on October 28.

A post mortem revealed she died from multiple organ failure due to a rib fracture and associated complications, with a contributory factor due to an enlarged heart.

Coroner Richard Hulett recorded a verdict of accidental death.
