A SCHOOL in Hazlemere is going to be the venue for an innovative gala dinner, where pupils will be cooking dishes inspired by the county's produce.

The Great Bucks Menu Gala Dinner will see guests enjoying Trio of Aylesbury Duck, Bradenham Cured Ham Hock, Beef en Croute and Chiltern Valley Flummery at Sir William Ramsay School.

Celebrity chefs Mary Berry and Phil Vickery have been confirmed to act as executive chefs at the event, with organisers also waiting for confirmation from Tom Kerridge.

The chairman of Buckinghamshire County Council, Carl Etholen, and the cabinet member for education and skills, Mike Appleyard, are hosting the dinner.

It aims to celebrate local farm produce, the skills of school chefs and the students. Children from Sir William Ramsay, Princes Risborough, St Joseph's Primary Catholic and Beaconsfield High Schools' and their head chefs will prepare, cook and serve the food during the evening which kicks off at 6.30pm on April 5.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Young Carers Bucks and towards the set up of more targeted chef clubs around the county.

Cllr Etholen said: "This is a great opportunity for pupils to attend these chefs clubs and be able to create healthy, nutritional meals and who knows we may have some renowned Buckinghamshire chefs in the future. I am really excited to see what culinary delights these young people will produce. I am pleased that this is not just a gala dinner but one which will raise funds and benefit more chefs clubs and Young Carers Bucks, so please support this event and book a table."

Tables seating for 10 guests can be secured for a suggested donation of £500 per table.
