PLANS for a new sixth form block at Sir William Borlase’s School have been approved.
The development, which includes extra classrooms, study space and common areas for A-Level pupils, was given the green light by Wycombe District Council last week.
The block will see an additional storey added to an existing school building to create a separate sixth form study centre.
Borlase says the new centre is needed due to the popularity of its thriving sixth form, with separate facilities needed for years 12 and 13 given the specialist nature of some subjects on offer.
The project includes the creation of a separate reception area, new classrooms and a common room, as well as the creation of a courtyard space to extend the capacity of the in-school cafe.
Great Marlow School has also announced it intends offer a designated space for sixth form pupils, with early plans looking at adding a storey to an existing school building.
As yet there is no completion date for the building work.
