AN APPEAL over plans to build polo pitches along a country lane popular with ramblers has been withdrawn less than a week before it was set to be discussed.
An application to lay out practice pitches at Low Grounds Farm on Harleyford Lane in Marlow was thrown out by Wycombe District Council last year following fears about the extra traffic along the narrow byway.
Developers then appealed to the government’s planning inspectorate over the decision.
But with the hearing scheduled for April 1, the appeal was withdrawn last week and the session at Wycombe District Council offices will now not go ahead.
A fresh proposal seeking to overcome traffic problems was also thrown out by councillors this month, with concern the public using the restricted byway would be “intimidated” by large horse boxes.
It is not yet clear whether a new appeal will be lodged over the latest refusal.
