JACKIE Wylie is proof that age is just a number after passing a course to become a fitness instructor - at the age of 78.

He's now helping people get into shape after taking up a post at the Chesham Moor Gym and Swim, taking classes a couple of times a week.

Mr Wylie has had the fitness bug since completing his National Service with the RAF in 1948 and set up the Chesham Youth Amateur Boxing Club when he first moved to the town.

And now he's a fully qualified instructor after passing his Level 2 course with Lifetime Training.

The Scotsman said: "Completing my Level 2 Fitness Instructor course seemed like the perfect thing to do alongside my boxing. All my friends thought I was mad and said I’d never be able to do it at my age but look at me now.

"Everyone along the way has been so supportive - from my tutors at Lifetime to my team at the gym now. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s been there for me along the way. It’s going so well that I’m considering taking my Level 3 Personal Training course as a next step, so we’ll see."
