PUPILS at a school in Princes Risborough performed their own take of a Shakespeare play.

Years three and four at Princes Risborough Primary School performed Romeo and Juliet for parents and other pupils last week.

Kay Theobald, assistant head and phase leader, said the project was linked with the school's literacy and topic work, which was The Tudors.

They are also hoping to become a story telling school, which develops literacy.

The 75 pupils who took part read a children's version of the play, and then they retold the story a number of times.

They were then separated into groups, and each was given a part of the play, which pupils could then develop into their own scene.

Ms Theobald said: "I am very pleased with the children. They have been really good at developing their own dramatic styles and taking the story in their own direction."
