This week, the BFP travelled to Marlow to speak to customers at the Marlow Bar and Grill, High Street.

Nick Peperell, business founder and creative director from Marlow.

How long have you been coming here?

It’s funny you should ask, but 15 years ago this was a Wheelers fish restaurant and I was peeling spuds in this very building! But I’ve been coming here for years since it became the Bar and Grill.

What do you like about it?

It’s a beautiful building, the frontage is lovely. It’s got a long and interesting history and it has stood the test of time.

Why has it stayed so successful?

It’s difficult to get the right balance in the bar and restaurant trade, but they’ve nailed it here. It’s got great customer service and a great atmosphere; you only have to look at how packed it is. The food is excellent too.

When do you come here?

I quite often come here at lunchtime as it’s great for business lunch meetings as well as being a good place to go at night, so it caters for every level really.

What do you eat and drink?

Depending on the time of day, I might have a light white burgundy or a lime and soda and a lager in the evening. I would highly recommend the chilli squid, it’s excellent.
