ARRIVA has announced changes to some of its services in and around High Wycombe to “improve reliability”.

The Greenroute 31 between Penn and Downley will be split into two services to combat delays caused by buses having to cross the town.

The 31 will continue to run between Penn and Wycombe every 15 minutes, with the route between Downley and Wycombe served by the new Service 30 every 20 minutes.

The 37 service between Wycombe and Maidenhead will now operate three times every hour, with Arrive promising later running buses to West Wycombe, Stokenchurch, Hazlemere and Great Missenden.

The firm has also revised the timetables of the 74 service between High Wycombe and Slough, and the 800/850 to Henley and Reading.

The changes come into effect from Saturday.

Arriva’s regional publicity manager Richard Lewis said: “We constantly monitor the reliability of our services and the usage of them.

“We have taken the opportunity to revise some of our timetables in the High Wycombe area by adjusting running times to ensure that buses can run as near to scheduled time as possible.

”At the same time we are pleased to be able to incorporate some improvements into our network, with later evening buses for some areas and an improved weekday frequency between High Wycombe and Bourne End.”

For more information on the alterations call 0844 800 4411, pick up a new timetable from Wycombe bus station or visit www.arrivabus.co.uk/berks-bucks-bus-times-april.

“improve reliability”

“We have taken the opportunity to revise some of our timetables in the High Wycombe area by adjusting running times to ensure that buses can run as near to scheduled time as possible."

There is one simple way of making things run better and on time, GET NEW RELIABLE BUSES! Its got nothing to do with the timetable.

My girlfriend gets the bus twice every day, 5 days a week for work into Wycombe from Stokenchurch and they are so unreliable breaking down all the time, sometimes they are even followed by the repair vans that top them up with water at each stop. Considering she, like so many others pay £60 for a 4 week ticket you'd think they would invest some of the money back into better buses to replace the squeaky, smelly, dirty, unreliable and unsafe buses.

The 40 service that serves Thame to High Wycombe via Stokenchurch is probably the most unreliable service they provide, some days it never arrives and as 'mrn1989' states it is always breaking down, only on Saturday it was stuck outside Thame town hall blocking the bus bay with the driver staring at the engine so that was another hourly bus service that never made it on time if ever and let lots of people down trying to get into Wycombe.
And why do Arriva in their wisdom think that people don't require this service to Thame on a Sunday and late evenings because yes we do everywhere else gets a bus service even if it is a Sunday timetable.

While you are at it Arriva, try teaching your drivers some customer service, many of them are surly, belligerent, and often quite rude, and those who English is not their native tongue try giving them some English lessons, also as an ex PCV Instructor / ADI (recently retired) I suggest that you take a very close look at the standard of driving in you foreign driver community, one driver on the 32 route managed to run 2 red lights and totally miss a stop with people waiting at it, and failed to stop at a zebra crossing, and that was only between Asda and the bus station.

I've been using Downley 31 for as long as I can remember and I don't think it has ever been on time. I use it 4 times a day, 6 days a week and I think cutting it down from Penn-Wycombe-Downley
-Wycombe etc to just one way is a good idea. But making it every 20 minutes is not. I have more buses to catch and making it every 20 minutes will really mess up my routine! I will miss buses and become late!
And agreeing with other comments here, some drivers are insane. At least 90% of the drivers on the Downley route alone drive like theres no tomorrow. Downley is full of small roads and hills and bumps and twisty turns.. They power-drive the whole way and I have to cling onto the rails the whole journey. I have even a few times been requested to hold an elderly lady down onto the seat because, bless her, she wasn't strong enough to repel against the force of the bends along with the speed of travel.
Ive even witnessed drivers yelling at passengers when they enter and leave the vehicle because the driver is late and blame the passengers!
