A DOG got into a tight squeeze this week and had to be rescued from a gate by firefighters.

On Wednesday evening around 9.40pm a white English Bull Terrier wedged itself in a wrought iron gate between his front legs and ribcage.

Firefighters from High Wycombe were called to Marlow Road in Lane End, where they used hydraulic rescue equipment to spread the bars on the gate, free the dog and then restore the gate to its original shape.

Firefighter Lawrence Whitelock from White Watch at High Wycombe Fire Station said: "We understand from the owner that he was playing with another dog which ran through the gate before the terrier attempted to follow."

The dog was unharmed.
