A FAMILY who believe not enough was done to alert people to the local plan have delivered a petition to the council against proposals to build a new M40 junction.

Pat Curtis and her family have lived in Spring Lane for over 30 years but fear a new junction would damage their home and business.

Although the original consultation ended on April 4, the family say they knew nothing of it until April 8, and therefore did not have long enough to fight the proposal.

Pat Curtis said: “We didn’t hear about the consultation until very late and we therefore only had two weeks to try and fight it.

“I have to say 85% of the people I contacted had no idea of what the proposal was, which is a bit scary.

“Most people were aware housing was an issue but lots of people didn’t know anything about this.”

In the council meeting on Monday the family delivered a petition which had just under 300 signatures against the proposal.

Despite not having enough signatures to lead to a debate at the meeting, the family are hopeful their online petition will have more of an effect.

The ‘Save Cobbles Farm’ e-petition has over 850 signatures at the moment and the family hope that will grow in time for them to deliver to the council again in July.
