PART of the M40 was closed for a time last night after a lorry jackknifed and shed its load on the carriageway.

The incident happened at around 9.45pm on the northbound stretch between junctions 1, for Denham, and 1a, for the M25.

The driver of the lorry, which was the only vehicle involved in the incident, was injured but was able to free himself from his vehicle.

A fire crew from Gerrards Cross fire station, and another from Hillingdon, helped clear the shed load so the road could be re-opened.
