CONTROVERSIAL teenage playing equipment was finally opened to the public this week with the council saying they hope the new area will ‘engage and challenge young people in the community’.

Since the removal of a skate park in the Recreation Ground in Straight Bit, Flackwell Heath, the council has been looking for a new site for teenagers to enjoy.

However, the proposed Parkour equipment in the same area left a lot of residents sceptical with many believing the location – away from the road – could lead to anti-social behaviour.

County Councillor Katrina Wood, Chairman of the Chepping Wye Valley Local Community Partnership, thinks the Parkour equipment could be good for the area.

She said: “Bucks County Council is delighted to be able to support this truly innovative project which has been made possible by the efforts of local councils and local people. “We wanted to provide a facility that would engage and challenge young people locally in a positive and healthy way and be a real asset to the community and are looking forward to seeing some exciting new skills being developed.”
