ALMOST 2,000 petitions protesting against HS2 have been received by the government, according to an Amersham-based campaign group.
The petitioning process, allowing residents affected by the route of the line to have their say about the controversial plans and have the project scrutinised by MPs, closed earlier this afternoon.
According to the HS2 Action Alliance, a total of 1,925 petitions were sent to Parliament.
Further petitions were also handed in at the House of Commons by local authorities - including some in Buckinghamshire - the line is set to run through. The deadline for them was last week.
