A TEACHER who provided the inspiration for a generation of budding musicians at a school near Marlow is hanging up his baton after three decades.

Popular teacher Graham Weeks is retiring after 30 years at Danesfield School, with his colleagues keen to compile a history of his time there.

And staff are asking former pupils and staff to share memories or photographs of the school orchestra and band leader for a send-off to remember.

School spokesman Karen DiMascio said: “Mr Weeks has been the driving force behind the school’s strong musical tradition, being responsible for the school orchestra and band.

“The talented pupils perform each term to parents, and Mr Weeks works tirelessly in encouraging and preparing his students.

“The school is keen to compile a book of his time at Danesfield and would ask ex-pupils or parents to submit any memories or photographs they may have to the school so that they can be included.”

During his 30 years at Danesfield, Mr Weeks presided over large-scale school productions including Oliver and The Wizard of Oz.
