A SCHOOL in Cookham is in pole position to secure much needed funds to improve facilities with a silent auction featuring rare Formula One memorabilia.

The championship-winning Red Bull team has donated items signed by Sebastian Vettel to be sold at Cookham Dean C of E Primary School auction during the summer fete on June 28.

The memorabilia includes a fireproof shirt signed by current F1 champion Vettel and a hat autographed by F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo.

A private tour at Lotus F1 team and exclusive tickets for the Goodwood Revival at the invitation of Lord March are also up for grabs.

Anita Brack of the PTA helped secure the F1 goods to help the school's bid to raise funds.

Mrs Brack, who has family connections in the motorsport business, said: "Everyone has been so generous but we are particularly delighted to be able to offer these F1 goods in the silent auction.

"They truly are collectors’ items and I hope people will take this opportunity to get their hands on such special artefacts.”

Money raised will go towards purchasing a sound system for the school hall, computers for Year five, resources for the new 2014 national curriculum and a new state of the art garden.
