AN APPEAL over rejected plans to build a polo centre along a quiet country lane has been announced by the government's planning inspector.

Proposals to create practice pitches and stables at Low Grounds Farm on Harleyford Lane in Marlow were thrown out by Wycombe District Council in March.

It was rejected due to fears large vehicles and horse boxes would be “intimidating” and dangerous for the public using the lane, which is popular with walkers and joggers.

But applicant Harleyford Properties, which argues the project would create less traffic than regular farm traffic, has appealed the decision to the secretary of state.

Residents and rural groups have been campaigning against the polo pitches since they emerged in 2011, and have successfully seen off the plans on two occasions.

If you wish to comment on the appeal, any representations must be sent to the Planning Inspectorate by July 16 at www.planningportal.gov.uk/pcs or by emailing teamp2@pins.gsi.gov.uk

All comments from the original application will be carried forward for consideration. A decision is likely to be made later this year.
