A 36-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with a car accident which left two main roads in High Wycombe closed and long queues for motorists across the town.

An overturned car resulted in police closing Abbey Way and London Road at about 2.30pm on Friday, June 13.

Police confirmed the driver of the overturned car left the scene of the accident on foot.

One man was treated for minor injuries at Wycombe General Hospital but it is understood no serious injuries were suffered in the collision.

Police told the Free Press they had been following a car in the Monks Risborough area in connection with a suspected burglary earlier in the day but were not doing so at the time of the collision.

A 36-year-old from Slough has now been arrested on suspicion of driving dangerously.

Police have said the man was also arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and two counts of burglary of a dwelling with intent to steal.

Both of the alleged burglaries took place on Saturday, May 31. Police said the first took place in Latimer Close, Little Chalfont, and the other one was in Blackhorse Crescent, Amersham.

The man has been bailed to Aylesbury Police Station until Thursday, July 17.
