HUNDREDS of people turned up to the first Wooburn Fete in more than a quarter of a century last weekend.

The Wooburn Residents Association organised the event after a survey found residents in the area wanted more community-led activities.

The Fete was a huge success with nearly all the community groups taking an active part by running games or raising awareness of their organisation.

The 1st Wooburn Scouts worked extremely hard before the Fete and on the day to make the Fete a reality.

They arranged some traditional fun games which took place on the day including a tug of war contest, organisers told the Bucks Free Press.

Guests were kept entertained by St Paul’s School country dance club, Takeda Voices- a local Choir, Maidenhead Concert Band and The Ellington Morris Dancers.

The event was organised as an opportunity for the whole community to get together, and it worked very well.

Much money was raised throughout the day, some for organisations present, some for charities and some for Wooburn Residents’ Association.
