MORE tributes have been paid to a teenager who died while on holiday after celebrating finishing his A-Level studies.

James Fifield, 18, from Marlow, travelled to the Greek island of Zante with seven friends two days after finishing school, but sadly died just days later after texting family to say he was ‘having the time of his life’.

Police are yet to confirm the circumstances surrounding the accident, although family were told he was involved in a road collision while travelling back to his hotel on a quad bike in the early hours of Saturday, July 5.

During the Wye Valley Excellence Evening last night, teachers said he ‘left an indelible mark on the school’.

Head of Religious Studies and James’ former Year 11 form tutor Mary McCrystal, led the tributes.

She said: “As we gather together this evening to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students, I would like to take a moment to remember a lovely young man, James Fifield, who, as you know, died in an accident at the weekend.

“We have a lot to celebrate from James’ life within our school community, which we will do in a more fitting way at a later date.

“Suffice to say, his achievements, personal, academic and sporting were exceedingly good and he has left an indelible mark for the good on our school.

“I have always been immensely proud to be a member of the Wye Valley School community, but never more so than this week, when the strength of this school could be tangibly felt in the love and support that has been shown here.”

The school left notes on a table near the entrance for friends to sign in memory of James. These will be collated and put in to a book for his family.
