A COUPLE who moved to Manchester to escape a campaign of harassment by a Chesham woman have spoken about their ordeal.

Paul Richardson, 35, and his partner, Julie Reid, 26 were tormented by Judith Robinson, 63, while they lived next to her in Harding Road, Chesham.

She was found guilty of four counts of harassment against seven people, including Paul and Julie, and one count of criminal damage to Julie’s car on July 8 at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates heard most of the offences took place over the past two years, mainly in the Harding Road area. CCTV footage helped secure her conviction.

Robinson would stand outside windows of residential addresses and look into their homes, shine torches inside and point a camera and video camera through the windows.

She used abusive language and behaviour, sent threatening letters and conducted a campaign of harassment.

Paul Richardson, 35, and his partner, Julie Reid, 26 spoke to the Bucks Free Press about their ordeal. They moved to Manchester in March as they could no longer cope with Robinson.

Paul said: "Every time I looked outside she was staring right back. She would shout abuse.

"She would shine a torch in the window at night time.

"She would leave weird notes on the windscreen. She is a real nut case."

He said she had a problem with people who rented as she owned her own place. Paul said: "I was unable to relax in my own home because of it. My job was quite stressful. I was working long hours and then I would get home to this and would be woken up in the night.

"My nerves were shattered. I was really stressed and tired out because of it."

He was also worried for the safety of Julie as she received a lot of abuse and he worried it would result in an attack.

Julie said the problems started when she moved in with Paul as she had a car.

She said: "She [Robinson] said I didn't live there and said I couldn't park in the parking bay because I was a renter and I had to use a guest space.

"She would hassle me every time I was in the car park. She would leave things in my car parking bay.

"She put a kitchen worktop in my space during the night so I parked there as I couldn't see it, then she said it had been delivered there at 9pm.

"She came around and pressed her finger on the bell at 1am for me to move my car."

If Robinson was in the communal garden at night, she would screech and howl if someone got up in the night and turned a light on.

Robinson also keyed Julie's car. She said: "I was always on edge. I didn't like that place. It never felt like home."

The couple hope the sentence will be severe enough for her to change her pattern of behaviour.

Paul added: "It is a new start for us. I was really lucky the company I work for would be able to move me otherwise I would have lost my job, as I couldn't stay in Chesham."

Robinson was also found guilty of harassment in relation to a 54-year-old woman between January 1, 2006 and August 4, 2013; harassment in relation to a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman between February 19, 2012 and August 4, 2013 and harassment in relation to a 38-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman between June 1, 2013 and August 16, 2013.

Robinson is due to be sentenced on August 13 at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court.
