THE Wycombe District Council Local Plan has been one of the biggest talking points across the area since it was released in January this year.

The plans highlight some of the key developments the council have earmarked for the next 17 years.

Below are the top five most controversial issues raised since plans were released:

Gomm Valley

Residents of the Gomm Valley area have had many concerns since the Local Plan leaflet was dropped on their doorstep.

In the plan, WDC said the site could provide 400 new homes, new jobs and potentially an extended local nature reserve.

However, residents have called for the town’s infrastructure to be improved before any additional housing is built.

Junction 3a

More than 1500 people have petitioned against plans for a new M40 motorway junction to be built in Flackwell Heath.

Although plans are at an early stage it is believed the junction 3a would be built in Spring Lane.

The plans have received mixed reviews with many residents believing it would destroy the village, while others agree a new junction is needed to alleviate traffic problems in High Wycombe.

Slate Meadow

A village campaign group has been started since land separating Wooburn Green and Bourne End was earmarked for development.

175 homes could potentially be built on the former greenbelt site, which is partly on the floodplain.

As well as having an online petition with over 1000 signatures the Save Slate Meadow campaign group has also organised a number of community events.

Princes Risborough

The majority of residents from Risborough do not believe the village needs the huge development which has been proposed.

Plans for the area include a potential development of 2000 to 2500 homes to be built over a decade or more.

One town councillor said the proposal would change the area forever.

Communication

One problem which was unexpected when WDC sent leaflets around to every house in the district was people complaining they did not receive a copy.

Many have said they have not seen the plans and some have complained about the lack of detail within the leaflets.

However, WDC have said they agreed with the Royal Mail for every house to receive a copy and if further information is required it can be found online.

Results of the Local Plan consultation period are soon to be released.
