A GROUP of protesters, who are due to line the streets this afternoon, are unlikely to cause any disruption to residents or shoppers, police have said.

They are protesting against the ‘British Government’s silence’ on the ongoing violence in Gaza in the Frogmoor area, High Wycombe, today.

Campaigners have previously staged protests in Bradford, Birmingham and London.

A number of officers have been working with the protesters to keep disruption to people in the town centre at a minimum.

Chief Inspector Colin Seaton, Deputy Local Police Area Commander for High Wycombe, said: “It is the right of people to protest in a peaceful manner and so we are helping to facilitate that.

“We are not anticipating that there will be any noticeable disruption to residents and visitors to Wycombe town centre.”

A spokesman from the organisers of the Free GAZA High Wycombe protest group said: “This is not about colour, nor is it about religion, this is about humanity.”

The protesters will be in the Frogmoor area from around 11.30am and the planned protest is expected to last a couple of hours.
