AN Olympic runner was the star of the show as more than 1000 runners donned their shorts for the annual Wycombe Half Marathon.

Organisers hailed this year’s event, which started and finished on the Rye, as a great success.

Runner Anuradha Cooray, who represented Sri Lanka at the 2004 and 2012 Olympic Games won this year’s event.

The first placed woman was 45-year-old Sarah Paradine.

As well as the main event of the 20km course there was also a 10km race and a children’s fun run.
