Loudwater Tesco shuts to customers this afternoon

First published in News

THE Tesco branch in Loudwater has been temporarily closed to customers this afternoon, with motorists being waved on from the access route into the store.

The reason for the closure is not clear at this time, but there has been some speculation it may be related to a power failure of some sort.

Yep... it's the power alright.
I was there when the last pieces of equipment with power (the tills) gave up.

The fridges were already all shut off with crates blocking the aisles to deter the few that tried to do some shopping.

At that last sign of any power we were asked to abandon our trolleys and leave.

Its a shame because instead of apologizing and allowing us to walk out with our shopping much of what was in my trolley will have been thrown away. I do so hate waste! I was already at the checkout about to pay for the meager goods I could obtain when the assistant declared "sorry cash only now" as the systems failed one by one.

I wonder when it will reopen? After much restocking I guess.

Not particularly... as I said I was waiting to pay with goods already packed and in the trolley. Those goods will now be in the bin.

I hate waste... none more than food waste.

Not a lot in the fridges... incredible full shelves of chicken but no lamb at all. Also no pigs liver or kidneys... terrible, offal in fact!
