RESEARCHERS are hoping to continue to find out more about Beaconsfield’s war heroes.

Following an appeal for help in finding out the details of six unknown soldiers, all believed to be from the town, they managed to unearth new information about one of the troops.

The WWI Centenary Working Group hope to read every name engraved on the Beaconsfield war memorial during a special commemorative ceremony on Sunday, August 3.

Despite having personal information for 74 of the names, they only had surnames for the remaining six.

However, they have now discovered that ‘B. Pell’ was Lieutenant Colonel Beauchamp Tyndall Pell (DSO) of The Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment.

He died at the age of 48 on November 14, 1914.

The group are still interested in finding out more about W E Clarke, W Dods, S Smith, F Stevens and E Webb.

As well as commemorating the towns heroes there will also be a picnic and live music from Chiltern Hills Brass Band.
