A CHESHAM firm is asking residents if they have ever had an accident after slipping in the bath or shower.

If so, Isagi Ltd would like to hear from them to help inform a national safety campaign it is trying to co-ordinate.

Isagi, which won the Innovative Business of the Year prize in May in the Buckinghamshire Business Awards, specialises in non-slip matting and fabrics.

Now it is calling for greater awareness of a new British safety standard for bath and shower mat slip resistance that was launched two years ago.

Managing Director Andrew Guilbert said: "I am surprised by the lack of awareness generally over the fact the new safety standard exists.

"We know there are hundreds of accidents every year, but due to a lack of specific statistics, most of the evidence about the dangers of slipping in the bath and shower appears to be anecdotal. That is why I would like people to contact us if they have had an experience.

"We will keep their details confidential if they wish us to, but the hope is that we will be able to raise general awareness in the media and through industry contacts that this safety standard exists."
