A MICHELIN starred TV chef who is set to feature at next month’s Marlow food festival says he is ‘honoured’ to headline the show in his home town.

Adam Simmonds, who earned the coveted culinary award during his time at Danesfield House, will join a host of cooks and experts at the annual celebration of food and drink on September 21.

He said he plans to demonstrate a version of ‘Your Share’ - the dish he created for this year's BBC’s Great British Menu and that was served at the final banquet at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

He told the MFP: "They approached me a while ago and I said yes straight away. I worked in Marlow for seven years and I still live there so I was very grateful and honoured to be asked.

"When I first arrived in the town to work at Danesfield I really got a feel for the town. It’s somewhere I could see myself settling so I bought a flat about four years ago.

"I’m planning to demonstrate a version of a chicken dish that was a part of the Great British menu and that got to the final.

"I was not expecting the feedback and the level of attention I got from that - it’s massive. To be part of that, especially with the D-Day commemorations was very touching and a very humbling experience."

Simmonds has worked under top chefs Marco Pierre White, Jean Christophe Novelli and his mentor Raymond Blanc during his rise to fame and success.

His Adam Simmonds at Danesfield House won a Michelin star, four AA rosettes and was placed 12th in the country before he moved on last year to pursue new projects.

The TV chef said the food scene in Marlow is 'massive', praising fellow chef Tom Kerridge for his success in helping make the town a culinary destination.

Now in its sixth year, Marlow’s popular free festival at the Compleat Angler also features pastry chef Stephen Glenister from Stephanie Almeida bespoke cakes, showing audiences how to work with dark chocolate.

The drinks world is also represented, with the Blue Beer Company offering a chance to sample the Dutch Château Neubourg pilsner, while Spirited Wines will be hosting a whisky tasting.

A plethora of tasty morsels will be on offer to try before you buy, with 30 stalls selling a range of food and drinks as well as gifts, vintage china and fashion accessories.

The festival runs from 11am until 4pm on Sunday, September 21 at the Compleat Angler Hotel on the banks of the Thames in Marlow.

See Freetime in the BFP in the coming weeks for a full-length feature on the chef ahead of his Marlow appearance.
