SHOPPERS will be given an early Christmas present this year with two free days parking being allowed in South Bucks this December.

Councillors decided to allow free parking again this year to support businesses throughout the district during their busiest trading time, they said.

Parking will be free in all South Bucks District Council car parks on December 13 and 20.

Cllr Nick Naylor, South Bucks District Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “Christmas seems a long way off, but it will be upon us quicker than we can imagine.

“We have to plan ahead, and to give local traders some certainty in uncertain times, we took the decision as soon as possible to make parking free in the lead-up to the festive season.

“I hope people will make full use of the chance to shop locally and support the businesses on their doorsteps.

"It's one way the Council can support our communities - a Christmas gift to our local traders and residents, if you like."

Free parking on the two Saturdays before Christmas will apply at the following car parks:

  • Warwick Road Car Park
  • Altons Car Park, Burkes Road
