DEVOLVED services are moving forward in Princes Risborough with a first cut this month.

Bucks county council representative on the town's council, Bill Bendyshe-Brown said Risborough is one of the few places taking up the offer of devolved services.

The county council offered the chance for town councils to take on grass cutting following a disastrous grass cutting programme this year, which started too late and was reduced.

Princes Risborough has taken up the offer and will be the hub for a cluster including Longwick, Lacey Green, Bradenham and Bledlow.

Cllr Bendyshe-Brown said: "We are going for one year. If we decide it is not working for us we will hand it back to BCC and they will have to take it back.

"I am quite pleased with have got this for now. We are only one of three devolved hubs- Stewkley, Amersham and ourselves.

"I gather Marlow were going to go down that route but not now."

On October 20 a trial cut will take place.

The council needs £9,000 funding to carry out the year's trial. It has already received a £6,000 grant and is looking to the Buckinghamshire County Council’s Local Area Forum for the shortfall.

It will receive five days consultant support from BCC.
