A TOP TV chef is preparing to open his latest restaurant in South Bucks after choosing one of the most glamorous locations in the area for the ambitious new venture.

Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar will bring his unique take on modern Indian Cuisine to the Macdonald Compleat Angler Hotel on the banks of the River Thames in Marlow in November.

Taking over the former Aubergine premises at the four star riverside hotel, Kochhar’s new eatery Sindhu by Atul Kochhar – meaning river or ocean – will add yet another culinary experience to Marlow’s burgeoning food scene.

Kochhar was first chef ever to gain a coveted Michelin star for Indian cuisine.

The chef patron runs the award-winning Benares in London’s Mayfair, Ananda in Dublin and eateries in Dubai and Mauritius.

The new menu will feature dishes such as Hiran ka Boti (venison saddle with cardamom and mace), Meen Moilee (wild sea bass with coconut moilee sauce) and Bathak Falliyan (Gressingham duck breast with three bean stew and coriander cress).

And the revamped interior, which Kochhar says takes inspiration from the rivers of India, aims to create a luxury dining experience with its splashes of golden saffron.

At the helm will be Gopal Krishnan who has undergone the revered Taj Hotel training in his native India and worked in some of the UK’s best kitchens including Mint Leaf and Tamarind.

Kochhar is a regular on BBC's Saturday Kitchen and appeared on Channel 4's Weekend Kitchen last Saturday.

The arrival of a new star restaurateur adds to the list of gastronomic highlights in Marlow, with two-starred Tom Kerridge about to embark on his second venture in the town.

The Compleat Angler's other eatery - the Riverside Restaurant - also received an overhaul earlier this year.

An opening date has not yet been announced. Check the Marlow Free Press for more information in the coming weeks.
