A 76-year-old woman was pinned to the floor as two men forced their way into her home in Bourne End.

She was left with scratches to her face after being pushed over by the men as their entered her home in Lower Ridge.

The woman had initially tried to close the front door on the two men after they said they wanted to look in her back garden for their dog, claiming it had escaped.

One of the men pinned her down while the other searched the property, although nothing was stolen.

Thames Valley Police has today launched an appeal for witnesses to the incident, which is being treated as an attempted robbery. It took place at about 6.30pm on Saturday, December 20.

The first man is described as white, in his early 30s, 5ft 6ins-5ft 7ins tall, slim and with stubble. He was wearing dark coloured gloves, which may have had an orange stripe on them.

The second man was wearing a woollen hat and had a striped scarf over his face.
