A law firm in Beaconsfield has raised more than £2,000 for charity after taking part in a will-writing campaign which asked lawyers to write wills for residents in exchange for a donation.

Leigh Duncan Solicitors, in Burkes Road, took part in the annual Will Aid scheme for the first time and raised £2,080 in the month-long fundraiser for the campaign, which raises money for UK charities.

Ingmar Heil, a partner from the firm, said: “Our team has thoroughly enjoyed participating in Will Aid and have worked very hard.

“Having a will is absolutely vital and our clients were very positive about the scheme. We would recommend that other law firms get involved.”

Will Aid is an annual fundraising campaign involving nine UK charities. With the support of solicitors who donate their skills, the charity encourages people to have their will drawn up by a professional solicitor while supporting charity.

Helen Grace from NSPCC, which is one of the campaign’s chosen charities, presented the firm with a certificate to thank staff for their achievement.

She said “The team at Leigh Duncan Solicitors have made a fabulous contribution to the fundraising efforts of Will Aid this year.

“Donations from Will Aid will go towards projects such as the NSPCC Speak out Stay safe programme.

“The programme aims to put trained volunteers in every primary school across the UK to talk to children aged five to 11 about abuse, how to protect themselves and where to get help if they need it.

“With £95 we can reach thirty one primary school children – £2,800 could pay for the Speak out Stay safe programme to visit five primary schools.”

Peter de Vena Franks, campaign director for Will Aid, said: “I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to Leigh Duncan Solicitors and let them know that thanks to them, lives will change for the better, and people who need it will continue to receive the help and support that the charities work so hard to provide.”

Will Aid will run again in November 2017. For more details, visit www.willaid.org.uk.
