One lane was closed on the M40 this morning following a car fire.

Firefighters were called out to the scene between J4 (Handy Cross) and J5 (Stokenchurch) going northbound at 9.47am.

The car was described as “well alight” by the first firefighters at the scene, according to Bucks Fire.

Highways England tweeted just before 10.30am to say one lane had been closed while traffic officers and the fire service worked to clear the scene, and drivers were being warned of building queues causing delays.

It has now confirmed the fire has been dealt with and all lanes have been open.
