A school is raising money to re-vamp their cricket pavilion in memory of a much-loved teacher who died tragically last year, writes Jasmine Rapson.

Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, in Amersham, is aiming to raise £80,000 to make significant improvements to the pavilion, adding a new side extension with additional changing facilities, an easily accessible ramp and an integrated score box.

On completion, the new facility will be re-named the ‘Suter Pavilion’ after 23-year-old Geography teacher, Jeremy Suter, who died suddenly from a previously undetected brain tumour in October 2014.

Mr Suter joined Dr Challoner’s as a student in 2002 aged 11, where he shared his love for cricket with everyone, leading the team to victory on several occasions.

He then returned to the school as a teacher in 2013, bringing his enthusiasm for cricket back with him and sharing it with pupils as a team coach.

Headmaster, Dr Mark Fenton said: “Jeremy’s sudden and tragic death united the school community with staff, students and alumni feeling his loss very keenly.

“With the support of Jeremy's family, we are delighted to share our plans with you for the Suter Pavilion.

“Not only will this ensure that Jeremy's name lives on, but it will enable the qualities that he embodied, both on and off the cricket field, to be shared with future generations of staff and students.
