Community-minded schoolchildren have been rewarded for their efforts with a trip to Legoland after a joint council scheme.

Year six pupils at Curzon Combined School in Amersham and St Peter’s Primary School in Burnham were the winners of the Community Card initiative from Chiltern and South Bucks district councils.

The two schools were picked from a total of 35 across Chiltern and South Bucks which got involved intopics including, cyber safety, money management, recycling and healthy lifestyle.

And the winners were treated to a trip to the Windsor theme park, alongside ten individual winners from schools across the districts.

South Bucks District Councillor Trevor Egleton, portfolio holder for healthy communities, said: "Both winning schools put in a tremendous amount of effort and we are impressed with how many activities they were able to take part in.

"All the schools that entered did a great job. We would also like to say thank you to Legoland Windsor for generously donating free entry tickets for the winners."

Jacquie Coles, head teacher at Curzon School, said the school was "delighted" with the win and the free Legoland trip and stressed the importance of the scheme for pupils.

She said: "We made sure that we gave sufficient time to give to this worthwhile project as we feel that it has critical key topics for our Year 6s to learn about, in being good, responsible citizens in their locality. "
