Amersham School were celebrating a string of A-Level successes this morning, with results having significantly improved since last year.

Headteacher, Mrs Sharon Jarrett, said she was “extremely proud of our students who applied themselves with such commitment to become the best that they can possibly be.”

The school achieved an 100 per cent BTEC pass rate and the average point score increased by 22 points at A-Level.

Jamie Byford-Palmer, who gained a place at the University of Sheffield to study English Literature, said that before getting her results, she ‘didn’t know what to expect’, but was ‘very happy’ with what she had achieved.

The school’s high fliers also included Honghui Xie who achieved an A* in Further Maths, A* in Maths and an A in Chemistry and is now going to study Maths at the University of Warwick.

The school’s fantastic improvement in results comes due to a focus and improvement in strategy.

Mrs Jarret added: “The students are performing at an even higher level this year.”

Couple Emily Podbury and Joe Stratford both got exactly what they needed for their next steps. Emily said she was ‘happy but shocked’ as she gained the requirements to pursue a primary teaching course at the University of Roehampton.

The school had supported Joe Stratford as he retook a year at the school, enabling him to achieve a BTEC in sports and be given an apprenticeship in electrical installation.

Students who were also receiving their AS Level results at the same time were thrilled with their results.

Pupil Kasper Tanner achieved Distinction and Distinction* in his Level 3 BTEC courses.

Mrs Jarret said: “The quality of grades awarded to our sixth form students has increased yet again, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of staff and students.”
