A new drama school for children has opened in Amersham this month.

Perform children’s drama school will run sessions for children aged between four and 12 years old on Thursdays at Chestnut Lane Primary School on Chestnut Lane.

The classes focus on what Perform call ‘the 4Cs’: Confidence, Communication, Co-ordination and Concentration.

Perform co-founder Lucy Quick said: “We are incredibly excited about opening in Amersham. We have a fantastic venue and have found some brilliant teachers to lead the workshops.

“We don’t send children to auditions or castings, but instead we focus on helping them develop their social skills whilst having the best fun of the week.”

Ms Quick worked as a professional actress in productions in the West End and across the UK.

She then set up Perform Drama, Dance and Singing Workshops with Will Barnett back in January 2000.

The first class took place in Primrose Hill near Regent’s Park with just four children but they now have more than 5,000 children attending their workshops across the capital.

The original aim of the workshops was to use performing arts games, exercises and materials to help boost child development rather than focussing on simply teaching technique.

Sessions for 4-7 year olds run from 4pm to 5pm on Thursdays at Chestnut Lane Primary School and sessions for 7-12 year olds take place from 5pm to 6pm at the same location.

All children are eligible for a free trial class. Parents should call 0845 400 4000 to book.
