Chesham Grammar School old boy Frans Erwig achieved a remarkable result in a professional accountancy exam, beating over 800 other students.
Mr Erwig’s score of 121 out of 150 in the case study exam of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) was fifth best in the world.
Originally from Amersham, Mr Erwig now manages a global finance team in the marine business within Lloyds Register.
Mr Erwig said: "It was fantastic to be told I had come in the top ten in the world in this exam and made all of the hard work studying worthwhile.
“The exam was really tough but I had a lot of support from both BPP and financial support from Lloyds Register.
“I am progressing down the road to being fully qualified and the exams so far have given me not only the basic accounting skills but also helped me to understand the wider business context of my work.”
To become a Chartered Global Management Accountant, students need to complete 12 professional qualification exams and three years’ experience.
