Leading business and political figures from across Bucks will be discussing plans to get county-wide access to superfast broadband at an event in Amersham later this month.

Plans are in place to make sure that superfast broadband will cover at least 95 per cent of the county, but businesses outside of this are invited to ‘Buckinghamshire Broadband – The Final 5%’ which takes place on 29 April at Market Hall.

Attendees will hear from speakers including Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan, Leader of Buckinghamshire County Council Martin Tett, Joint Chair of the Connected Counties broadband delivery board Michael Garvey and Alex Pratt OBE, Chairman of Buckinghamshire Business First.

The free event, which is organised by Buckinghamshire Business First in partnership with South Buckinghamshire and Aylesbury FSB, will allow businesses to hear plans and will provide a forum for questions.

Philippa Batting, Managing Director of Buckinghamshire Business First, said: “Thanks to the Connected Counties programme delivered by Buckinghamshire County Council and local partners, we now have plans in place for almost 95 per cent of the county to receive superfast broadband.

“Rural businesses have historically been at a disadvantage because of a lack of access to fast broadband, so enabling so many areas in Buckinghamshire to have access has been a huge achievement for us.”

FSB National Chairman Mike Cherry said: “This event is an opportunity to further clarify the issues facing our members in Buckinghamshire with regard to access to superfast broadband.

“We want to bring together the business community at this event to not only update them but also work together to ensure all businesses across the county benefit from superfast broadband.”

Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership and Buckinghamshire County Council have given £3.7m to support the installation of high speed broadband in the county.

The event will take place on from 10.00am until 12.00pm. Light refreshments will be provided. To book your place visit: https://bbf.uk.com/event/buckinghamshire-broadband-the-final-5
