Five Tesco store managers walked 25 miles from Princes Risborough to Gerrards Cross in a bid to raise thousands for charity last week.

Andy Stuart, Alan Larkin, Robert Folly, Stephen White and Scott Berti, the five managers from Princes Risborough, High Wycombe, Loudwater, Amersham and Gerrards Cross supermarkets walked from branch to branch on March 23 to raise £5,000 for Diabetes UK and British Heart Foundation.

As the tired walkers got to the Loudwater branch on London Road, they were given a hero’s welcome by dignitaries and supporters who had gathered to welcome them.

High Wycombe mayor Zia Ahmed, Wycombe District Council chairman Mahboob Hussain and High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Milly Soames, were on hand with Tesco employees and friends to greet them.

The walkers stopped at the store for around half an hour before continuing on their way.

So far, the group have raised more than £350 towards their target for the two charities – which are both in partnership with the supermarket chain this year - with more money expected to pour in.
