Going to bed after a blazing row later that night, this ordinary couple relive the events and encounters of the evening in dreams made extraordinary by the lateness of the hour, their befuddled senses, and yes, a touch of magic. This production will re-invent The Magic Flute in fabulous new robes for the era of Trump and recessions, casting rays of light and love into the darkness through Glyn Maxwell’s mischievous poetry, Alex Beetschen’s lively orchestration and Valentina Ceschi’s theatrical creativity. T.Rextasy
T.Rextasy, presented by Sweeney Entertainments, has been performing all over the world for 25 years, a career that ironically out-lives Marc’s very own T.Rex. In 2017, the band returns to venues across the UK to transport audiences back to the 70s for the Marc Bolan 40th commemorative anniversary tour. Accepted as the world’s only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan & T.Rex, and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan’s family, estate, original ex-members of T.Rex, and Bolan’s catalogue management, T.Rextasy have been described by many as ‘beyond the boundaries of tribute’. The skilled musicianship of Danielz (Vocals & Lead Guitar), Neil Cross (Rhythm Guitars, Backing Vocals), Rob Butterfield (Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals) and John Skelton (Drums) lets the timeless music and legacy of Marc Bolan and T.Rex live on, performing everything from 20th Century Boy to Children of the Revolution and Telegraph Sam to Hot Love with superb authenticity. The Titfield Thunderbolt
The Titfield Thunderbolt: can the villagers of Titfield save their steam train? The latest production is based on the classic Ealing comedy film, ‘The Titfield Thunderbolt’, which starred the great Stanley Holloway and harkens back to the simpler days of steam trains and the closure of small branch lines by Dr Beeching. Set in the fifties, it tells the tale of the villagers of Titfield and their plans to buy and run the line themselves or risk losing their commute to work and market, vying for business against Harry Crump, the owner of the local bus service. Who is the mysterious Miss Coggett? Who is lurking about in the dark? Will the vicar get his wish of driving the train? And will the villagers triumph in the end? Starring plenty of well-known local theatre faces, this play is a laugh-out-loud romp with plenty of old-fashioned humour for all the family. Tickets from £13.50 to £15.50. Visit elgiva.com to buy tickets.
