Swimming: Burnett prepares for European competition

COMMONWEALTH Games swimmer Simon Burnett will be back on the big stage next month when he competes in the European Short Course Championships in Germany.

The Wycombe District Swimming Club member, who helped Englands 4x200metre team to Commonwealth Games bronze in Manchester earlier this year, flies off to Shanghai next week with the English squad to prepare for the championships.

Meanwhile his club have taken on two new coaches in a bid to keep the clubs success story going.

Paraplegic swimmer Anthony Stickland has been poached from his club in Somerset and will link up with fellow new recruit Matthew Hitchcock who joins the coaching staff from Eastleigh Swimming club.
