POLICE have reissued warnings to owners of high-performance cars not to leave their keys on display.

Several Porsches, BMWs and Mercedes were stolen last month by thieves using the new craze of "bambooing", in which keys are hooked through letterboxes.

Cars worth up to £60,000 have been targeted in affluent areas of the borough.

A police spokesman said: "These aren't just opportunists. It seems cars are stolen to order and most are not traced. Motorists must realise they shouldn't leave keys in the open, especially at night."

Anyone with information about these thefts should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
