Controversial plans to construct a large office building and new homes in Beaconsfield have been recommended for approval by planning bosses.

Proposals to build 10,000sq ft of office space in the town off London End moved a step closer to being given the green light after officers at South Bucks District Council said this week they should be approved.

Concerns over access to the site and an increase in traffic led to developers Bidwells withdrawing their application and submitting fresh plans to the council.

Beaconsfield Town Council objected to the plans, while South Bucks District Council also received a petition calling for the proposals to be refused permission - one of 240 formal objections they received.

But English Heritage, Affinity Water and Transport for Bucks are among the public bodies not to have raised any objections to the proposals, which also include plans for four new houses.

Although planning officers at South Bucks District Council have recommended the proposals be approved, the plans still need to be given formal consent by the authority's planning committee. They will meet to make a final ruling next Wednesday, May 27.

If permission is given, Bidwells would have to abide by 19 terms recommended by the planning officers.
