A Beaconsfield town councillor has resigned from her post.
A notice announcing the resignation of Jacquetta Lowen-Cooper, who represented Central Ward residents, was posted on the town council website last week.
Although it is unclear why Cllr Lowen-Cooper has resigned, Cllr John Read, who represents Beaconsfield South alongside her on the district council, said: "A notice was posted on the notice board at the town council announcing her resignation.
"I have obviously spoken to her subsequently. The reasons why she has stepped down are very much her own."
A by-election will be triggered if ten residents of the ward submit a written request to South Bucks District Council by August 14.
Otherwise, the post will be filled by the town council, by co-option.
Any request for an election to be held to fill the vacancy should be sent to the Returning Officer at South Bucks District Council, Capswood, Oxford Road, Denham, UB9 4LH.
