A new parking payment system is to go live across council-run car parks in Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross next month.

Chiltern District Council and South Bucks District Council's joint parking service is changing its cashless parking contract from Parkmobile and Paybyphone to RingGo from Sunday, November 1.

Existing Parkmobile and Paybyphone customers will need to register with RingGo to continue with cashless parking.

If drivers have already registered with RingGo to pay for parking in other areas, they will not have to register again.

Customers can register in advance by downloading a free RingGo smartphone app or by entering their details at www.myringgo.co.uk.

Once the service is live, motorists can call 01753 202000 when they want to park.

South Bucks District Councillor Luisa Sullivan, portfolio holder for environment says the new service offers drivers a ‘simple and efficient’ way of parking in council-run car parks.

She said: "The new service goes live on November 1, offering residents, shoppers and visitors a simple and efficient way of paying to park their cars in the council-run car parks.

“Switching providers will make it easier for local motorists, because they'll already be registered when they use car parks in the Chiltern district."

Cllr Mike Smith, Chiltern District Council's cabinet member for environment, said: "Who among us hasn't been driven mad by not having the right change for parking, or worried that you won't get back to your car before your ticket expires?

“We all seem to carry less cash these days and it makes sense to have the same cashless parking provider across both councils - I'm sure it will make life much easier for our residents."
